Geeksouts — Page 30

I’ve tried using vertical tabs in browsers like Comet, Arc, and Orion, and I really enjoy this feature! It makes reading much easier compared to horizontal tabs, especially using tabs in a group. Give it a try and see how it improves your browsing experience!

The feature is even more useful when grouping multiple tabs, as the tabs in a group will appear nested vertically, allowing the same ease of use. You’ll quickly find a website in a group, as the title remains visible.

It is fascinating. While modern rocket science and space travel feel like recent milestones—especially with the Artemis II crew just returning home from the Moon last week—the link between the two actually dates back to a 1657 novel.

In his posthumously published 1657 novel, “Other World: Comical History of the States and Empires of the Moon”, Cyrano’s protagonist, also named Cyrano, is finally able to make it to the moon after soldiers attach fireworks to his flying machine.

I wrote about my Mac Mini M1, 8GB, some time ago. Recently, someone else experienced the same issue, so I now know where to look for some spring cleaning later today. I hope it goes smoothly! Fingers crossed!

My Mac felt slow, but hardware wasn’t the problem. Here’s how I fixed it.

While reading emails, I clicked on “What Live/Work Spaces Have Looked Like Through the Ages”. The photo of the Amsterdam buildings brought back memories of my April 2017 visit. Exploring the city was a wonderful experience—it is truly beautiful.

I love flaky biscuits — homemade ones are always the best. Growing up, biscuits and gravy were a staple. I miss that. Lately I’ve been grabbing whop biscuits from the store, but it’s time to make them from scratch again and top them with a delicious sausage gravy. Link: kingarthurbaking.com

Memory makers are only expected to meet 60 percent of demand by the end of 2027. Link by @theverge.com

Memory makers are racing to expand, but AI-driven demand for HBM is outstripping supply. With new fabs not fully online until 2027–2028, experts warn of a 40% shortfall and shortages lasting until 2030. Expect volatile prices for RAM and consumer tech for the foreseeable future. Yikes!

Tesla brings its robotaxi service to Dallas and Houston by @techcrunch.com

“Robotaxi is now rolling out in Dallas & Houston 🤠” and includes a 14-second video showing Tesla vehicles driving without human monitors or drivers in the front seat.

Earlier, I wrote a post about Waymo. You can find it here. Now Tesla’s robotaxi service is coming to two cities in Texas. Hmm.

Do Kindles Need Screen Protectors? by bgr.com

That’s interesting. I’ve owned at least three Kindles, a Kobo, and a Boox, and I’ve never actually needed a screen protector. I always use a cover, and since e-ink screens aren’t made of glass like a phone, they don’t really crack the same way. It’s never felt necessary. What do you think? Do you put a screen protector on your Kindle?

Madonna looks stunning! I’m excited for her music video, a sequel to her 2005 hit “Confession of the Dance Floor.” I can’t hear her vocals but admire her dance moves. Given her age, I hope she’ll deliver a great performance!
