I went out again this morning for Starbucks and breakfast, taking photos on the way there and on the way back along Indian School Road.
My leg was still sore from earlier this week, and it showed. Last time this walk took me about 45 minutes. Today it took an hour and twenty. I clearly need to walk more often. I miss it more than I realized, especially after all the walking I used to do back when I lived in DC.
A blue-green agave, its spiky leaves fanned out like a starburst. |
A weathered mural on a pillar, a red cloud shape framing a painted profile. |
A closer look at a coyote fence, the wood grain worn smooth by weather. |
A red front door tucked beside an old iron bench. |
A spooky little surprise tucked into a tree, early Halloween decor already going up. |
A prickly pear loaded with ripening magenta fruit. |
Rings inside an old, weathered stump, cut open to the grain. |
A row of pigeons lined up on the wires against a big sky. |
An old wagon frame resting among the prickly pear. |
Another prickly pear, this one holding its ground in a quiet yard. |
A little free library painted teal, tucked under a tree. |
A whimsical metal sculpture rising out of tall grass. |
The street looking calm as I made my way back, morning light still soft over the mountains. |

Slower pace today, but the walk still had plenty to catch my eye.
