For centuries, the barren landscape of Mars has beckoned humankind. Now, a hundred colonists start a mission to make Mars more Earthlike. They will place satellite mirrors to reflect light, sprinkle black dust on polar caps to capture warmth and melt ice, and drill tunnels into the mantle to create vents of hot gases.
