@help, if I want to preserve the text exactly as it appears in the summary and truncate, is safehtml or markdownify the best option? Let me know.
@jarrod Great.
@jarrod, if you are using Brave, you can bypass most paywalls by enabling the content filter in privacy/security settings; look for Paywall Blocker. I can read NYT articles without being paywalled.
@manton Love this photo! I missed traveling and photography. I used to be a hobby photographer, taking many photos during my travels and while living in DC. Lastly, I’ve always wanted to visit Spain!
@manton what is difference between Google and Kagi? I believe Kagi is a search engine, right?
@news I clicked the updates, and itis showing the errors. It says Update Error! Micro.blog can’t be updated if it’s running from the location it was downloaded to. Please advise what to do.
@help I created a post with the YT shortcode. It works on a single post but not in an email newsletter. Should I avoid using the shortcode in email newsletters? If you have a solution, please let me know.
@jabel That sounds lovely! I wish I could hear them sing, but I am deaf. I’m thinking about setting up something by my window to watch the birds while they eat. Or I might hang something on my porch for the birds to sit on so I can watch from my storm door!
@help How can I make the body (text) content font larger in the email newsletter? Is it even possible? Please let me know.
@t3mujin Cool, of course. I kept doing that during COVID-19, but locally, it was in Washington, DC. Now I live in a rural Appalachian town. There isn’t much to take photos of around here.
@sandobox I just learned that too. Actually it isn’t new, it has been around since 2011. Hmm.
@stijndm I love your photos on your blog, although I don’t know what you are saying. 😞
@t3mujin Love this photo! Oh, how I missed photography. I am a hobbyist photographer myself. I used to take a lot of photos of architecture, doors, and other random things when I lived in DC and traveled all over before COVID-19. I hope to go back to taking photos with a camera soon.
@thedimpause Thanks for this article and I mentioned that on my blog. Smile.
@devilgate Great show; indeed, an ending I never saw coming — kept me guessing the whole way through. Agatha Christie, the undisputed Queen of Mystery, never disappoints. If you love a good mystery, her TV adaptations and films are absolutely worth your time.
@bobwertz Loved season 1 of Monarch but canceled Apple TV 2 years ago. Just found out I have 2 episodes left AND season 2 dropped. Season 2 better be worth it. T-Mobile offers me Apple TV for $3/month, saving $9.99. Guess I’m resubscribing.
@technogeek75.bsky.social Hayes is verbose and meanders instead of getting to the point. Not in the mood for that kind of commitment right now.
So I am currently reading The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly.
@help Thanks for the update. I fixed it on the Desktop web. It is good that the mobile fix is on the way. FYI, I was using the Web app (home screen icon) on mobile when I tried to fix the date.
@stephango.com Buckwheat? I never tried a oatmeal buckwheat chocolate chip cookie. I would love to try to make them one day. I love eating oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from Whisked. Yummy.
@miljko I love a good Vampire film. I saw Sinner too. It was good, the ending was just wow. Congrats the team for the most nominated film in the history.
@manton Ahh, I found it under Blog Settings, then a three-dot menu next to my blog name, which listed all platforms to import posts from. I don’t want that. I thought we could import a single blog post from other platforms to post on micro.blog.
@rscottjones I dont have any domains, hosted, just a native, vanilla blog. I will wait to see if anyone says something about it! Perhaps, @manton knows where I can find it…
@aleen Yeah! I will try it again soon!!! It should be fun, right? Jogging my memory, how to do it! One day, when I am doing it, I will tag you to let you know I am knitting. ;-)
@rscottjones That is what I am seeing right now. I don’t see ‘Import,’ unless I’ve overlooked something, have I?
@help If I want to post it on Facebook, and notice there is no thumbnail photo in the preview. I have the photo in that post. How can I make it visible in the preview?
@help I dont see ‘Import’ on the Posts page. Where exactly can I find it? I want to test importing from Substack to see how it is working.
>Micro.blog can import from WordPress, Medium, Tumblr, Ghost, Substack, Write.as, Twitter, and Markdown files. To upload a file from one of those platforms, go to Micro.blog on the web and click Posts → “…” → Import.
Your help is great appreciated.
@jean I use Notion as my main writing space.
@manton Cool!
@aleen Always want to learn how to crochet or knit.. I have done that years ago but now forgot how to knit!!! 🙄
@manton Wow, it’s beautifully shot! I always want to visit Austin. I heard it has a large Deaf community. This Capitol is breathtaking, standing still among the skyscrapers. Amazing. Did you take that shot?
@rscottjones Ha, ha. Yeah. But, seriously, they are amazing!!! I don’t know how he can do it. He must have a lot of patience for this project!
@iChris It’s been a while since I last had a Chick-fil-A meal. Their chickens are juicy and tender—so tasty. I really missed that.
@wcaleb Cute!!!
@rscottjones Yeah, and it will definitely require many trims and be high-maintenance.
@tomatoesinspace Perhaps, but a 5-minute snooze is too much for me. I set mine at 15 minutes.
@nxte Yeah. Same here.
@miljko Yeah, I have heard of the author and have been raving about his books, and I want to read his books! The books are always better than movies anyway!
@jinscho I’ve always wanted to learn how to cook Asian food. One of these days, I’m actually going to attempt it. Hoping it turns out well and my family actually enjoy what I make.
@rscottjones I know!
@lmika Yeah, I agree, what a sight!
@wyldphyre Thanks for sharing this, and it is on my reading list!
@lmika Great. Thank you!
@lmika Done.
@lmika I asked Micro.blog about your Postlist plugin, and they suggested I contact you. I installed it and tried the shortcode in my post, but it doesn’t seem to work. Did I do something wrong? Please let me know how to use it. Thanks.
P.S. I hope you are the right person to contact about this!
@gregmorris I will check it out soon. It sounds like a good series to watch. Smile.
@rknightuk yes, it was good. Thanks for reminding me… I need to finish watching the Last of Us season 2. I wonder if there will be a third season. Hmm.
@joshspector Good one!
@alexanderbellgram I feel you. I have been trying to get into the habit of reading books daily, but social media practically takes over my life and distracts me. By the time I want to read, my eyes are already tired from infinite scrolling.
@alexanderbellgram That is hilarious. Sometimes, they don’t think thoroughly… After all, AI isn’t necessary mean that it is brilliant and knows it all. Smile.
@ExtralocalYokel Aww, that is adorable!
@matthewlang It looks great. I can’t wait to try that theme out.
@poploser Oh. I just learned that Heated Rivalry is the second out of six books in a series. Game Changer is the first in the series. Hmm.
@poploser Thanks for sharing the list. I am going to check them out!!! Smile.
@jarrod Smile. I know. Maybe one day I will try it.
@poploser Sorry, I missed your reply. It took me 4 years to reply! Yes, I saw Avatar: The Way of Water, probably in 2023 or 2024. Then I finally saw Avatar: Fire and Ash last month. Both are very good. I am waiting for the next one; I think it will be released in 2029, if I am not mistaken.
@matthewlang Great. I will keep an eye out for it. :-)
@technogeek75 I mean, a few minutes before bed…
@Ralph it is a good idea to read a few pages before the bed! 🙃
@Ralph, I checked both books and can confirm they’re by the same author. Smile. I see that Moonbound is part of the Penumbraverse. Interestingly, that universe includes two novels and two novellas. Now I want to read Moonbound! But not right now — it’s on my long reading list.
@Ralph I might have asked a stupid question—are those books written by the same author?
@jarrod Wow, that sounds like a real tough challenge! I honestly don’t think I’d be brave enough to try it—I might chicken out myself. But they do look like a lot of fun!
@antonzuiker It is fun to play with any images using AI generative apps. I usually use Gemini’s Banana Nano. It is pretty good.
@antonzuiker Beautiful.
@antonzuiker Thanks for sharing the article. It is fascinating. I used to love mixed drinks with Captain Morgan’s Rum. I missed that. I think I will buy a bottle of Captain Morgan and mix it with Coke or Pepsi … Hmm. Now I am curious about the Blackstrap Rum. Maybe one day I will try it out?
@gregmorris Great. I just followed you so I can keep up with your development updates! :-)
@matthewlang Will it be shared with everyone who wishes to use this theme on micro.blog? That looks nice!
@matthewlang That looks nice! Good job!
@gregmorris Are you considering developing an Android app? I would love to try this out!
@Ralph, it is a very good book! I enjoyed it. I read that book perhaps two or three years ago.
@Ralph Thanks for this. I just added the first book to the reading list! And I happen to have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, so I can read this book for free! Right now, I am trying to get into the habit of reading a few pages a day.
@miljko I’ve tried a bunch of browsers, including Zen and Orion; however, I’m currently using:
- Comet (for the PRO perks)
- Brave on Android
- Arc for its quick glance and AI search.
Now I’m testing Vivaldi’s tab tiling—curious to see how fun it is! Go off trying it out! 🙃
Cheers!
@sitedata When I lived in DC, I always went out and most to walk around the city, most of the time between 8,000 to 13, 000 steps. It felt good. Now I live in the rural Appalachian town, I don’t get to walk that much anymore. 🙄
I just talked about walking earlier and how important walking is right here and check it out.
@Mikehendley Gorgeous
@Luzi, I love cherry blossoms, though they are plum blossoms. Are they the same? Anyway, I enjoy going to Cherry Blossom in Washington, DC, when they bloom in the spring. They are beautiful. I miss it. I don’t live there anymore. :-(
