"content_html": "
\nI have not done this in a long time, talking about my life, daily life, or what we are doing these days. So I thought I'd share this and see how it goes, and maybe I will do a \"Life Lately\" post once in a while. It may be long or short, but thankfully, there are NO rules about how much I write in a blog post!\n
\n
\n My partner and I have been in Albuquerque, NM, for two weeks. We came here for my partner's dad's funeral. His father was cremated, and the urn was beautiful: wood on top with his favorite sports team's logo. Last Saturday, we went to the celebration gathering at a restaurant they had reserved for us. They provided food. Mexican-style food, of course. I don't really love their food because it is always filled with either red or green chile, which I try to avoid as much as I can because of my acid reflux situation. But I ate rice, tortilla chips, and Frito pie, which I love. It was a bit spicy, but I let myself eat it! The whole family was there, chatting and telling stories about him, and someone from his family interpreted for us, which was nice. It was great to get those stories, and some of them were interesting!\n
\n
\n Two days later, we went to the cemetery for the interment and put his urn in the mausoleum. Just his closest family shared stories about him there, and we don't know what they were saying because we are Deaf and they didn't help interpret, but that is typical. I don't mean to make them look bad, though; it is not their fault. I am sure they have wonderful stories, and I would love to know them someday. That is okay!\n
\n
\n Now we are just chilling, and we will not go back home until around September 22nd. We've gone out with his friends twice, and it was fun. We just talked a bit, ate a bit, and hung out. We were invited to a BBQ party this Saturday, but he wasn't sure whether he wanted to go. We will play it by ear and see how it goes.\n
\n
\n Not only that, but we just found out that one of his family members invited us to another BBQ party today. We ended up not going — we stayed in and relaxed all day instead.\n
\n
\n See, my partner had a stroke and is paralyzed on the right side, but he can move his right leg a bit. He can't really go out and do fun stuff like he used to, so it is pretty limited for him, but I'd love to check out a few places while we are here. I will try to get him to go out for a couple of hours to look around. It is very hot outside, and I hate heat, but it is dry, better than the humidity back home, which makes it much worse, right? We will see if I can get get him out and enjoy a little. \n
\n
\n We will see how it goes for the next few weeks. If we go out somewhere, I will probably write a brief blog post about it. I am dying to see the aquarium, and I hope to see it before we leave.\n
\n
\n Oh, his friend from Colorado might come by for Labor Day weekend. We might do something fun, and maybe we will take a few photos, which I love to do. I am a hobbyist photographer, and I hope we will get to see some cool places around here while he is visiting. Fingers crossed!\n
\n
AI disclosure: This post was written by me.
